A sweet treat for all school staff!

This year the Parents’ Association on behalf of all parents initiated a new “Danke” project. In mid-June over 400 mini-cupcakes and cookies were hand delivered by board members to each of the lounges for teachers and all support staff to enjoy along with a card expressing our thank you.

This initiative was a small gesture to acknowledge our appreciation for all that the teachers and staff do for the benefit of our children. The reception was very enthusiastic and we hope to continue the tradition on a regular basis.

A new logo for the PA and EuroKids

As part of a larger and on-going communication project within the Parents’ Association, the PA updated their logo in the spring.  The brief for this project was to create a more modern identity for our PA with a logo more closely projecting an image of partnership within our own school as well as with other European schools. For this task we worked with a professional graphic designer with close ties to our school, Mélanie Heddrich of HDMH Visual Concept.

The final product uses two brush strokes, which symbolize an active interaction.

The cool bright modern tones represent the blue and yellow EU-colour range meeting in the middle with green, symbolic of a fertile and productive collaboration. The designation is presented in DIN font, chosen for its readability in large and small visions and for its classic, modern and timeless character.  It was in fact created in 1906 and first published 1931.

The sub title Schola Europoae was used since we are a school within a group of schools representing multiple cultures and languages, rather than writing this in English or German.  Indeed, already in the seventies the designation in Latin was applied to unify and consolidate the mixed population of the schools, with no preference for one language and independent of sections and/or countries.

The EuroKids logo is visually linked with that of the PA each entity with its own mission and purpose yet working towards the same goal... a visual representation and expression of our symbiotic relationship.

The coloured dots complement the PA logo in its style and aesthetic and are playful and active, reminiscent of the paint pens young children play with.  The dots also represent children: of all sizes, standing close, together or apart – to embrace all differences.

Opposite to the cool colour range of the PA, the EuroKids logo is presented in warm yet vibrant tones. These colours symbolize emotion, passion, fight and love.

The final result was unveiled in the spring and has since been used both internally and externally.

Dear Parents,

Trends are constantly changing in higher education, so it is of great importance to have up to date information in order to be able to make a university application stand out. Having high grades and test scores on students’ application are far from being the only indicator of the future career and the path to get there.

For this reason we would like to invite you to the event Universities Abroad: Application Support - Craft Your Perfect Essays, Success in Interviews and Get Accepted, where professional experts will provide you detailed tips and examples of essays, as well as general information of how to complete profiles of applications , interview preparation tips and provide a comparison of UK, Dutch, German  and other European universities. The experts will also answer all your questions about the admissions process for the Netherlands, Germany and UK universities.

This seminar is applicable for high school students, parents and school staff and will be held in English, but all content can be translated into German.

Students and their parents, as well as teachers can attend for free by signing up with this code:  https://frankfurt-essay-perfection.eventbrite.com?discount=CRIMSON. Signing up is a precondition for attending the seminar. The event will be held on the 26th of June 2019 in the Hilton Garden Inn City Centre (Weserstraße 43, 60329 Frankfurt am Main).

We are looking forward to seeing you there,

Linda Boros and the PA organisation team

Did you get a chance to see the talented performers from Video Clip Dance, Ballet, Zumba and Strong Kids? A round of applause for their teachers, Ms Cucek, Ballet Schule Frankfurt, Ms Thurenhout & Ms Neupert, respectively.  Alex Romanoff amazed his audience with funtastic magic. All of these activities (and more) can be found in the EuroKids after-school program.

We end by thanking the volunteers including parents, teachers, & students who volunteered throughout the day with set-up, at the drink stand, in the aula and at cleanup.  Summerfest is a volunteer led initiative. None of this is possible without our volunteers!

We had a great day and now wish you all relaxing holidays and we look forward to seeing you at the Annual General Assembly in the Fall.

Launch of the INTERPARENTS 2019 Bacc Support Platform

Dear S7 Parents,

Today is the first day of Baccalaureate 2019 Written Exams.  We would like to take this opportunity to wish our students the best of luck over the coming weeks!  We have done very well on the exam in recent years, and we can only hope this trend will continue.

We are writing to inform you that, in the unlikely event that your student encounters a problem on one of his/her examinations, INTERPARENTS and the local Parents Associations have again launched our online Bacc Support Platform allowing parents or students to register complaints on specific Baccalaureate Examinations.  The service is linked directly from webpage: http://interparents.eu/bac/   Attached INTERPARENTS also provides an explanatory packet outlining the necessary steps to take if something should go wrong on the Bacc.

One should not underestimate the immense efforts that are made each year to assure the quality of the exam papers and to ensure that all goes smoothly.  Considering the number of papers, problems with exams are rare.  Nevertheless just in case, the Parents Association and INTERPARENTS stand ready to help.  Information submitted through the system goes directly to us parent representatives in the PA and INTERPARENTS.  Complaints are then collated, analysed and prioritised in order to bring pressing issues to the attention of the General Secretariat with maximum efficiency. We will do our best to keep you informed of all developments. Please remember that INTERPARENTS and the Parents Association are both volunteer organisations so we ask that you be patient with any glitches that arise.

In closing, we hope that our families have smooth sailing over the next few weeks.  Still, if for any reason you do have concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

Delphine Braun

PA President
