Meeting with the Federal Ministry for Education and Research on 3 November 2014

Before the meeting the participants had an opportunity to visit the Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary school buildings. During this tour both the school directorate and PA representatives highlighted the school's urgent needs that have to be fulfilled to be able to ensure high-quality teaching.

In the subsequent meeting, attended by representatives of the ECB, the school directors, representatives of the General Secretary of the ES, the Parents’ Association, the City of Frankfurt and a delegation from the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF), the representatives of Germany wanted to report on the developments since the last major meeting in Berlin on 29 April 2014.

Thank you for joining our Protest on October 17!

Dear Parents,

Thank you to all who joined our protest in front of the school this morning. Unfortunately it seems to be necessary to use this kind of action to remind all stakeholders that they need to stick to their contractual obligations. Today our parents used the opportunity to voice their dissatisfaction, and they gave the representatives of the European Commission quite an intensive time! See some photos below:

ESF Extension Breaking News

Dear Parents,

After repeatedly announcing bad news in terms of the expansion of the ESF over the past few months we have finally some good news!

On 29.04.2014 a meeting of all stakeholders involved in a school expansion for ESF took place in Berlin at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. At this meeting the Federal Republic of Germany finally committed to its obligation to provide appropriate infrastructure facilities for the European School Frankfurt for both the short and long term.

In summary this means:

  • The modular PA building will be built as planned by the City of Frankfurt/ECB. Unfortunately due to the delays encountered the building will only be available as of February 2015 hence the Parents Association and the school with the support of the ECB will investigate an interim solution that will be available from September 2014 till the modular building is completed.
  • In the coming days confirmation letters for the next school year, will be issued by the school
  • From September 2014 pre-primary, primary and secondary will have more classrooms and space available
  • The school direction can finally finalise the planning for school year 2014/2015.
  • A feasibility study will be launched in the coming weeks by Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety in conjunction with the school and the PA to find a long term solution for the extension of the ESF
