The parking conditions and access to school have deteriorated in the past years. Taking private individual cars to drive the kids to school is not a sustainable solution for many parents, especially with the school population increasing substantially every year.

Keeping this in mind, the PA has worked on the establishment of other solutions to promote and organize collective transportations to and from school. In this respect, the association managed to set up a school bus service servicing the ESF in the morning and the afternoon. The first line, Line A, has been operating since September 2011.

The PA has designed four other bus routes that have started in September 2012 resp. 2013. We have subcontracted the "Urberacher Busbetriebe Emil H. Lang GmbH" bus company and offer 5 lines in the morning and four (Lines A and O) in the afternoon. Line A operates from Sachsenhausen via the the city centre and the Westend, Line B starts at Gutleutstraße and goes via Ginnheim, Line C starts at Wasserweg via the Nordend. Line W serves a single stop in the Westend, and the new (from September 2014) Line O serves the new ECB premises, the Ostend, and Eschersheimer Landstraße.

Apart from the school bus service, the PA encourages parents to use other alternatives. You can use our Car Sharing application (menu item on the left) to join other parents for school transport. Another alternative would be the use of door-to-door services offered by various taxi companies.

Bus Transport

Registration for the school bus transport is available on-line: just take a look at the menu tree on the left ('Bus Lines'). Or just decide to read more, first:

Why a collective transport?
In addition to the issues mentioned above, the school informs us that too many pupils brought with private cars arrive late in the morning. The feedback from the school tells us that the kids arriving with the school bus appear more relaxed than those brought with individual cars and start the school-day in a much different mindset. Some parents report that the current morning bus saves them 1h to 1½h per day.

Routes:
We worked out 5 different lines with high potential, totalling more than 200 children, which are the outcome of your registrations of interest and of your contributions initiated during workshops. About 240 children are using them daily. Some of you could unfortunately not be covered because of the lack of a potential critical mass in their area. We invite everybodyt o contact us if you see potential for an additional line.
