The second event this year in the “Talks” series took place on 23 March. It was held at the ECB and hosted by the HR team. Around 150 registrations were received from interested parents and teachers. As you know, the project was born from close collaboration between the PA and the ESF Secondary school, with the help of an expert advisor.

The main speaker, as during the first event on Social media in October 2016, was Dr. Patricia Napiorkowski-Lubbe, a physician specialized in child and adolescent psychiatry. The topic of this presentation was “Helping your child live a balanced life”. It focused on issues that aim to promote the well-being and independence of our children. Dr. Napiorkowski-Lubbe gave us practical hints on how to better perform the sometimes uneasy task of parenting. She gave us ideas on how to learn to deal with stress, how to give the mind a break from overload, how to seek physical and mental balance, for example through meditation and mindfulness. She talked about the tools that can help us become more resilient, the importance of family rituals and outings, etc. The presentation with many inspiring ideas is available here.

The day before, on 22 March, Dr. Napiorkowski-Lubbe spoke with S1 students about Social media, a topic which is very important due to its implications and consequences for the life, also the school life, of our children. The students filled a questionnaire provided in the four languages on the use of electronic devices.

The “Talks” project working-group will keep you updated on future appointments and is looking forward to inviting you to other interesting events.
