Dear parents,
A new year has begun and there is still no solution to the pressing problems at the European School Frankfurt. While there are some very interesting discussions taking place for a possible expansion of the school, unfortunately there has still not been a commitment by the Federal Republic of Germany to fund this proposal / identified short term solution.
It seems that the responsible employees of the Federal Ministry of Education and Science do not understand the responsibility that the Federal Republic of Germany has accepted, with the establishment of several European institutions in Frankfurt, for the children of employees of these institutions! By the end of January 2014, the financing for the smooth operation of the ESF as well as the short term extension proposal absolutely necessary for the admission of new eligible students (for September 2014) must be ensured! Otherwise, the implementation of the timetable for the completion of the construction work until the end of August will not be feasible!
As you know from our recent publications as well as from the petition that you have been requested to sign, there will be a very important meeting in this regard in the European School on January 22, 2014, i.e. the Board of Directors meeting of the ESF. This will be joined by representatives from the Ministry of Education and Science (Germany), the Secretary General of the European Schools, Mr. Kari Kivinen, representatives of the European Commission, the ECB, EIOPA, the school directors and representatives of the school as well as representatives of teachers, students, staff and last but not least, the parents.
The board meeting begins at 09:00 hrs.
It is important that we as parents show our frustration with the situation! There should be as many parents as possible to receive the various delegates at our school! We should welcome the various stakeholders when they arrive in front of the school and let them know our wishes and demands.
Since some of these stakeholders will arrive at the school very early, we suggest that you bring your children to school in time and join us in front of the secondary school building by 8:30 am. Coffee and pretzels will be organised by the Parents' Association!
You should make time for this! This is about the education of your children! If only a handful of parents show up that would show the delegates that there is little interest in the topic! That would certainly not be conducive to our demands!
